Carol ‘s dissertation study,
An Exploration of Strategy-Based Reading Instruction Using Expository Science Text in Grades 2-5, (2010) indicates that literacy skills are paramount in all content subjects, especially in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) subject areas with intensive technical vocabulary and difficult concepts.
Dr. Morgan pursues scholarly research for publication to gain further knowledge in reading and literacy PK-16, with emphasis on the use of expository text materials and specific strategies to aid in metacognition and critical thinking. She is also particularly interested in the role of the school principal as an instructional literacy leader.
Carol’s diverse experience includes lifetime service as a teacher, administrator and university professor in Texas. She has been a presenter and approved provider for professional development since 2012, and has served as a conference since 2004. Dr. Morgan is a licensed educator and reading specialist PK-12. She has diverse PK-12 classroom experience, both site-based and central office administrative experience, including service as PK-8 private school principal and Head Start Director. Dr. Morgan also has experience as a district federal programs administrator with experience with preparation and submission of grant proposals, curriculum planning and purchasing, employee evaluations and appraisals, professional development.
